Lincou Lifts his first
"Big One"
"It's my first big one!" said a delighted
Thierry Lincou as he collected the Brit Insurance Super Series Finals
title in front of a packed house at London's Broadgate Arena.
Lincou, the top seed, and runner-up here in 2001, had been the most
consistent performer over last year's qualifying Super Series events, but
never managed to win one.
Lincou lost a lead, and a tie-break in the first game, but Joe Kneipp
suffered early losses too - forced to change rackets due to broken strings
twice in the first game alone.
In all, Kneipp used five rackets, and as Lincou's dominance grew so did
Kneipp's frustration.
The final two games were over quickly, and with his delighted parents in
the audience, the title was Thierry's.
